The early coinage of Victorinus struck at Cologne, as seen in the above example, employs a portrait that is similar in style to that of his predecessor Marius. Not surprisingly the die cutters were finding it hard to keep apace with the rapidly changing succession of emperor's the Gallic rebellion was throwing out.
